A 27-are, natural-looking garden, which contains mollis and Japanese azaleas, numerous trees, bushes and collection perennials. Coloured underbrush with, along a river, three ponds surrounded by damp-area plants : candelabra primroses, hostas, gunneras…
E42 Verviers-Prüm motorway, exit 11, direction Malmédy, then Waimes. At the first roundabout inside the village, drive straight ahead taking the N632 road, then take the first road on the left, which runs parallel to the former railway line. There is a carpark in the center of the village, at a distance of about 200m from the house in question
A 12-are, long and narrow garden. Well-groomed and harmonious at the start, the flower-beds become wilder and more rustic as one moves away from the house. You will find here a vegetable garden, a small pond with a cascade, and terraces scattered all over a garden which has English rosebushes, clematis, hostas and boxwood.
E-42, Liège-Namur motorway, exit 5. Follow Verlaine traffic signs.
A 25-are garden of English inspiration. Wide mixed borders, pond, green arbours where rambler roses, ancient roses, asters and other perennials mix harmoniously.
E25, Liège-Luxembourg motorway, exit 48, then N66 towards Hamoir. Drive for 7 kms. At the second road junction on the left( Ferrières) turn right towards Grimonster, rue du Ferot and drive for about 2 kms.
A French garden, laid out in tiers and looking out on a vast panorama ; rose nursery, vegetable garden, orchard, apiary, English park, ponds, tree-lined alley.
At the place where the N63 Liège-Marche road meets the N683 Seraing-Plainevaux road (the place is known as « carrefour de Plainevaux », Plainevaux crossroads, and has traffic lights) take the direction of Ouffet. Keep on this road until you reach the village of Hody. Leaving the village turn right in the direction of Xhos.
The visit of this 1 ha-garden begins with the vegetable garden, adorned with peonies and English or old rosebushes. You then come to the « lagoons », i.e. several tiered, crescent-shaped basins. Further along you discover the « guardians » of the property, a series of stained-glass panes made by a local artist, hedge arrangements, greenery blocks, basins with waterfalls, graminae, and hydrangeas. We like the contrast between the structural and the untamed… We appreciate both impeccable pruning and intimate disorder…
E42 Verviers-Prüm motorway, exit 11, direction Malmédy. Cross the town of Malmédy taking the direction of Waimes (N62). When leaving the town, just before the Carrefour department store, turn right and follow the signs.
This is a 40-are artist’s garden which is in constant evolution, partly arranged, with its flower beds and its pond, and partly wild. To the visitor’s delight, the artist gardeners have placed here and there beautiful glass objects. Making a pun based on the homophony between “verre” (glass) and “vert”( green), the French text jokingly suggests that glass (verre) is here put out to grass (vert).
Coming from Liège on the N63 (Liège-Marche) road, drive until you reach Neuville-Domaine. About 300 meters after the lights, turn into the first street on the right, Allée de la Chevauchée. Then take the first street on your left, and then the fourth on your right (avenue des Mélèzes).
